Zoning

The Town of Colfax has adopted the Dunn County Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. Anyone who desires to build any kind of structure in the Town of Colfax must first contact Dunn County Zoning, at 715-231-6522, to see if any permits are required by Dunn County. You may download the Dunn County Zoning Permit application here. In addition to the Dunn County Zoning Permit you must also apply for a Town of Colfax Land Use Permit.

Outbuildings or Detached Garage

If you will be adding an outbuilding such as a detached garage, pole building, agricultural building (silo, barn), tower, lean-to, greenhouse, and/or any type of shed please be advised that a Dunn County Zoning Permit must be approved before any building may begin in the Town of Colfax. New Home Construction

Once the County has approved your zoning you should contact our town building inspector, Fred Weber at Weber Inspections. Permit and inspection fees are collected by the building inspector and are required for new residential – heating – air conditioning – ventilating – plumbing – electrical – setbacks – additions – attached porches, garages, etc. – inside and outside alterations, room expansions, etc. where walls are moved or added and/or windows are changed or moved, etc. Additional information and fees may be accessed at www.weberinspections.com. Additional fees collected by the building inspector on behalf of the Township include a $50 land use administrative fee for new one- or two-family dwellings and a $20 land use administrative fee for any permits issued by the building inspector for any other contraction or addition, improvement, or repair.
