A bald eagle and a skein of geese were witness to a lot of work going on at the Colfax Red Cedar Preserve and Recreation Area on Saturday. Thanks to the UW Stout students for their several hours of work at clearing and burning invasive plants from the road side next to Ferry Pond. Their professor, Keith Gilland and CRCPRA Vice Chair Paul Verdon led with chain saws clearing Siberian elm and opening an area for picnicking. All that while Pat Eggert worked on clearing buckthorn.
